Fire causes delays on Metro-North

Posted: Updated:
MILFORD, CT (AP) -

Power has been restored on the Metro-North line between Stratford and New Haven, but there are still delays after a transformer fire shut down power for several hours.

The News Times reports that power was restored around 6 a.m.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said early Friday that the fire happened overnight between Stratford and Milford stations.

About 11 miles of track was without power for several hours, so Metro-North was using diesel locomotives to transport passengers between Stratford and New Haven.

The Metro-North Hudson line in New York was suspended Thursday because a freight train hauling garbage derailed in New York City.
