Hartford man arrested for deadly shooting on Prospect Street

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Hartford have arrested a 20-year-old man for a deadly shooting at an apartment complex Saturday.

It happened near the Sheldon Oak Apartments on South Prospect Street, just after 4 p.m. Upon arrival, police found Shane Oliver, 20, of Hartford with a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.

He was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

On Wednesday afternoon, police arrested Luis Rodriguez and charged him with Oliver's murder.

Rodriguez was charged with murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and reckless endangerment. He was arraigned in Superior Court in Hartford Thursday.

"I wish to commend the excellent work by investigators in this case, and the community for their support and assistance to police, which contributed to the timely success of this investigation," said Hartford Police Chief James C. Rovella.
